Our recording session at the end of May was very successful. A busy day, we managed to get a number of tracks recorded which will be available to buy on a CD later in the year. Full details will be available here as soon as they're available.

We now have one week off from rehearsals for half term. Our next rehearsal is on Friday 11th June when we'll be preparing for our next concert on 25th June at Swillington.

Our poster of events on the downloads page has now been updated with the Scarborough concert. please download and display a copy if you can!

Recording session for a new CD has been arranged for Sunday May 23rd at St Joseph's. The Band will be required from 10am - 2pm, and the Choir from 12pm - 4pm. A light lunch will be provided to all members.

CYM were sad to learn this week that Trustee Sir Jack Smart died on Wednesday after a short illness. Condolences to Sir Jack's family.

Concert dates for 2010 have now been confirmed. Concerts include Trinity Methodist Church in Castleford in May, follwoed by St Mary's in Swillington at the end of June. We will once again be visiting Queen Street Methodist Church in Scarborough in July and will perform at st Joseph's in Pontefract before preparing for our Christmas Concert at the Civic Centre on 17th December. If you have a friend who may be interested in joining either the band or choir, why not invite them to our presentation concert on 26th March for free (saving £6)? If you know someone who would like to take up this offer, please let Susan Jaggar know so she can allocate a ticket.

Apologies for the long delay getting the site back up and running but it's finally here! The delay was down to a combination of not realising, lack of time and loss of hosting provider, but we're now back online!

The rehearsal tomorrow (8th January) has been cancelled due to the adverse weather. Although the snow has eased a little now, it was decided that as it's the first rehearsal back there was no point putting people at risk getting there. We'll be back rehearsing for 2010 on Friday 15th January, usual place, usual time!

Another reminder that CYM are still looking for someone to come along and help our Choir Director. Hopefully this would eventually lead to taking over the directorship of the choir. This is a voluntary position and rehearsals are held on Friday evenings 7pm-9pm (term time only). This would be a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys choral work with a membership of young people aged between 8 and 25 years. Regarding our future use of the Civic Centre in Castleford, Wakefield Council have recently informed us that they intend to significantly increase the charges for using the hall. We have used the Civic Centre for all our annual concerts since it was built in the 1970's, but regrettably, if the charges increase as advertised our recent Christmas concert may well be our last there, and we will have to seek an alternative venue. We hope we can continue to rely on our supporters to attend future Annual Concerts if they take place in a different venue.
